Maria & Juan

After our first daughter was kicked out of daycare for biting (which is a normal developmental phase at 16 months), we started looking for real education and a school that offered real food. Being from a foreign country, we could not settle for a regular daycare that wouldn't meet our daughters desire for free play and exploration.

Our two daughters have been attending Rose Rock for since 2016. Here is a summary of what we love:
- Teachers love their job and take it seriously: They are wonderful guides to the children at all ages, and have a true passion for what they do. This includes taking several LifeWays and/or Waldorf trainings. Teachers are experts at the various stages of childhood development, and are committed to assist our children become who they came to be.
-The school grounds are wonderful, full of nature, mature trees, fruits and vegetables gardens, and many opportunities for kids to play and grow happily.
- Kids see their vegetables grow in the school grounds, and eat nutritious and organic meals. Our daughters love eating vegetables, soups, and mostly everything. The school menu is not only healthy, but also full of love from Mama Ann (wonderful cook) who changes the menu seasonally and makes everyone happy at snack and lunch time 🙂
- Kids have many opportunities to develop their skills at their own pace. From playing in the mud, to hours in the sandbox, or riding bikes, or feeding the goats, or climbing trees, kids grow surrounded by nature, friendships, and the loving care of teachers.
- There is a bridge between home and school. Teachers offer guidance when needed on topics such as daily routines, discipline, and others, based on the developmental stages of the kids. These tools have helped our family tremendously!
-A sense of community, like no other. We enjoy the various seasonal festivals and activities that bring families together and increase our sense of community. Children watch parents being involved in community activities, and are inspired to be helpful and kind to others in our community.

This year our oldest daughter has had the opportunity to attend First Grade at Rose Rock, and we love seeing how she is growing so beautifully. She has four hours of daily instruction in which she has learned German, sign language, flute, and is madly in love with mathematics, reading and arts. It is a great curriculum that meets the developmental needs of her age, and still leaves plenty of time for play and imagination.

We strongly recommend Rose Rock School. It offers an education model that supports the strong growth of our children!

We can't express our gratitude enough. Having our daughter in a small school face to face setting during these crazy times has kept a slice of normalcy and well-being alive during these crazy COVID times. Rose Rock has done wonders for her socio-emotional and physical development, guiding us to support her in ways that I’m positive would have gone unnoticed in a larger school. My favorite aspect is how much the learning here is grounded in living life fully, in beauty, and in community.

Our family loved the Rose Rock approach to group play. It was great for our son and daughter to be included in the same groups. They're two-and-a-half years apart in age, and their togetherness at Rose Rock has been great for their rapport. The children playing and working (!) in mixed-age groups is a fun, organic way to teach care and responsibility.

Meals at Rose Rock School are amazing. The menus are really healthy, and the food is prepared on site. For all our best efforts at home, we have never been as successful as the Rose Rock team was at persuading our kids to eat their vegetables. And our kids always loved having a role in food preparation, especially making the Dragon Bread rolls for Rose Rock family events.
